Summer Camp
In a Nutshell
Our half-day camp (8:30am - 12:30pm) engages youth, ages 7 to 13, in a variety of outdoor experiences that are both fun and highly educational.
Our enthusiastic staff lead campers on activities such as mountain biking, rope courses, kayaking, land sports, climbing walls, and beach adventures. Nature hikes, tidal pool explorations, orienteering adventures, frisbee golf, crafts, and friendly competitions are just a few of the other activities included that suit campers' interests.
Throughout camp, campers learn about the different ways in which we all impact our environment and about how they can "leave no trace" when enjoying our natural world. Not only do campers enjoy learning about the plants and animals of Martha's Vineyard, they also have a chance to get exercise, make friends, and try something new!
Dates: Monday - Friday all summer long
Time: 8:30am - 12:30pm
Activities
Mountain Biking
Experience a fantastic introduction to Mountain Biking by traveling along the scenic bike trails in Manuel F. Correllus State Forest.
The Mountain Biking Adventure starts with choosing the perfect bike for each student, focusing on safety and basic skills. Then the true excitement begins when we enter the 4,343-acre State Forest. Here, students will experience vast terrain opportunities ranging from dirt to sand to paved trails. The combination of adrenaline, learning, and sweeping vistas makes this an unforgettable day!
Kayaking
Launch into a day of paddling with picturesque views in beautiful Sengekontacket Pond.
Kayak Adventures begin with an introduction to paddling strokes and kayak safety in the shallows of Sengekontacket Pond. A variety of water obstacle courses allow us to test our skills and knowledge while taking in the natural beauty of the surrounding salt marshes. Once comfortable and looking savvy, the group will begin an on-water exploration to explore the coastal pond. With the extraordinary marine life we will encounter and discuss, the day can't get any better!
Beach Day
There is nothing more pure then playing at the beach and working the waves on boogie boards.
After a fun-filled week of travels, a day at the beach is just the place to relax and soak in the sun. It is a day of choices! Campers are welcome to play games on the sand, hit the water for some boogie boarding, hike the nature trails, hunt for seashells, or nap in the midday sun. Nearby ponds offer nesting sites for shorebirds, as well as prime habitat for elusive osprey and eagles. With so many options, it is difficult to know what to do first!
Olympics
Why wait every four years? Light the torch for the Adventure Camp Olympics!
Once the teams are divided, the flags are hung, the cheers are made, and face paint is on, we let the games begin! Embarking on the quest to be the worlds best, each team joyfully battles through friendly competitions of small group games, team sports, individual challenges, and the ultimate capture the flag. Each team member has an essential role to reaching the finish line. It’s a day that everyone will get the GOLD!
Ropes Course
Fly through the air on the high-rope, work as a team on the low-rope and climb the tower, there is something for everyone
We start the day by preparing with team building games and activities. Then we head to the challenge area where there are adventures for all ages, sizes, and abilities. Here, each camper will choose what they feel most comfortable doing. Whether it is sliding down the zip line or climbing to the top of the climbing wall or just playing around on the elements a foot off the ground, this day has something for everyone. With certified instructors and top of the line equipment each person will feel safe at all time.
